The Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance

The traveling Global War on Terror Wall of Remembrance is more than a memorial—it’s an experience.
Designed to honor the men and women who served in the Global War on Terror, the wall commemorates both military personnel and civilians impacted by acts of terrorism, including the events of September 11, 2001

Stretching more than 100 feet in length, the wall symbolizes the values of honor, strength, courage, and sacrifice, while giving visitors a space to reflect on the true cost of freedom.

As it travels across the country, the memorial provides healing and connection for veterans, Gold Star families, and communities—ensuring that the stories of those who served are never forgotten.

When it arrives in Mt. Vernon, it offers a rare opportunity to experience this national tribute up close.

🏍️ Honoring a Local Hero: LCPL J. Kyle Price

At the heart of this event is the legacy of Lance Corporal J. Kyle Price, a Mt. Vernon native who gave his life in service to our country.

Kyle Price, a United States Marine, was killed in action in Iraq in January 2006, and his sacrifice continues to inspire a community that has never forgotten him.

In his honor, family, friends, and supporters established the J. Kyle Price Memorial Foundation, which not only organizes the annual memorial ride but also gives back through scholarships and support for veterans across Southern Illinois.

Now in its 20th year, the memorial ride has become a beloved tradition—bringing together riders, families, and supporters to celebrate Kyle’s life and honor all who serve.

✈️ A Meaningful Setting: Mt. Vernon Airport

This year’s event is made even more special by its location at the Mt. Vernon Airport, a site that reflects the community’s strong connection to service and patriotism.

The airport has long served as a hub not only for aviation but also for community events that honor veterans and first responders. Its open space and welcoming environment make it an ideal setting for a memorial of this magnitude—where visitors can walk the wall, reflect quietly, and take part in a shared moment of remembrance.
