Cedarhurst Center for the Arts is a nationally accredited museum expanding over a 90-acre campus. The outdoor Goldman-Kuenz Sculpture Park features 73 pieces of art, making it one of the largest sculpture parks in the Midwest. The 33,000 square-foot cultural center, Mitchell Museum, is home to several art galleries, a family center, performance hall, and gift shop. Many paintings are from artists who trained in Europe during the 19th-20th century. Including Thomas Eakins, Childe Hassam, and John Singer Sargent. The Mitchell Museum Main Gallery and Beal Grand Corridor Gallery reveal new exhibits every few months often featuring local artists’ work. The Beck Family Center located inside the Mitchell Museum allows families to fully experience the senses of art and the excitement of new discoveries. Interactive stations include a life-size puzzle, texture sculpture, building blocks, indoor tree library, and more. Located in a separate brick building on Cedarhurst’s campus, The Shrode Art Center holds two large classrooms, a ceramic studio, stained glass studio, and floor looms for weaving. Both adult and youth art classes are held regularly. Open Tuesday through Sunday, call ahead to schedule a free tour of the entire campus.
