The season of crunchy leaf piles, endless corn mazes, pumpkin patch picking, cozy bonfires, and apple cider. There are so many fall activities in and around Mt. Vernon. Cedarhurst Art & Craft Fair

Come celebrate the 43rd Cedarhurst Art & Craft Fair! During Craft Fair weekend, a portion of the Cedarhurst Scuplture Park transforms into a unique blend of art, music, brews, and food. Visit and shop over 100 artists and enjoy the interspersed acoustic music, refreshments, and seating areas amongst the artist booths. Opening for its 21st season on September 14th, Marlow’s is a family owned farm selling pumpkins, squash, gourds, mums, and more. At Marlow’s, you can pick your perfect pumpkin, slide down the silo slide, or make your way through their haunted barn and corn maze. The pirate ship hayride is their most popular attraction. As it takes you through the beautiful country, you’ll meet a few unique characters!

A great time to visit Marlow’s would be on their two vendor fair weekends, Marlow’s Fall Fest and Fall into Winter Fest. Browse dozens of craft, food, and other vendors as you enjoy the regular festivities at Marlow’s!

Fall Fest presented by SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital

September 27th- 29th

The 8th Annual Fall Festival presented by SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital brings a 3-day weekend packed with festivities! The vendors marketplace featuring dozens of food, craft, and information booths, as well as the Beer and Wine Tent, will be open all three days throughout the festival beginning Friday at 5 p.m. An extensive kids zone area will be open all weekend, as well, with several free activities for children of all ages including inflatables, R & J Tactical Lazer Tag, and more. Pay-to-play Nature Climbing Wall, Monster Spider Jump, and face painting will all return to the kids’ zone.

The weekend’s musical entertainment kicks off at 5:15 p.m., Friday with local group, The Eli Tellor Band. At 8 p.m We Got it Covered will rock the stage with cover songs of multiple genres.

The 4th Annual 5K for Special Olympics sponsored by Sean Featherstun for States Attorney will start at 8 a.m., Saturday, the 28th. The Downtown Mt. Vernon Cruise-In featuring nearly 100 cars, trucks, and motorcycles will take place from 8 a.m.- 1 p.m. The Crossroads Community Hospital Parade will begin at 1 p.m. celebrating Mt. Vernon and Jefferson County’s Bicentennial with the theme, “Growth. Progress. Pride.” The Mt. Vernon Business Women’s Club will once again host the Great Pumpkin Contest from 8- 11 a.m. The top three pumpkins in both adult and child categories will be awarded. Local artist, Angela French will perform on the main stage at 11 a.m. Saturday. Musical entertainment will continue after the parade around 3 p.m. with the Pack Ratz. Saturday evening’s entertainment will get underway with rock band Throw the Horns at 5:15 p.m. Fall Fest’s headliner, Cowboy Mouth will perform at 8:15 p.m.

Blues Day returns on Sunday the 29th with blues entertainment beginning at 12:15 p.m. with the Soulard Blues Band. Then, at 3 p.m., listen to the sounds of the Jeremiah Johnson Band.

Heritage Festival

The wooded village will take you back in time as you explore buildings of the past including a one room school house, calaboose jail, log cabins, general store, and more. Enjoy crafts, entertainment, demonstrations, exhibits, and food. The menu for both days includes ham and beans, BBQ Sandwiches, hot dogs, and desserts. Embark on a guided tour of the historic Old Union Cemetery. Free musical entertainment both days. A service will be held in the Mt. Olive Church at 10 am. on Sunday.

Everyone loves a good ghost story! Join one of the best storytellers in the country as he scares, delights and frightens audiences of all ages with spellbinding tales of the macabre. Brian “Fox” Ellis will entertain different age groups on the back porch of the “spooky” Mitchell House, building quiet suspense before attendees participate in a collective jump as he takes them on a spooky rollercoaster ride with storytelling.
