The humidity is up, days are longer, the kids are out of school; summer has officially begun! Mt. Vernon’s summer calendar is chocked full with events for every age. Check into some of these Mt. Vernon events happening in June!

 

 

Market Days

June 1st, 8 a.m.- 2 p.m.

Veteran’s Park

800 S. 27th St.

 

Ringing in the month is Mt. Vernon’s very own Market Days. Shop from over 50 local vendors with produce, plants, jewelry, collectibles, home décor, antiques, Amish baked goods, blacksmith items, and more. Billy Bob’s BBQ will be on site with delicious BBQ sandwiches and nachos. Vendors will be located both outdoors and indoors! Admission is free. Visit, shop, and enjoy the Market atmosphere at Mt. Car and Truck Show

June 1st, 10 a.m.- 7 p.m.

2200 Benton Rd.

 

Come out and meet the Street Outlaws and No Prep Kings, Amarillo Mike Lamberson, Dragula, Cody Baker, Shake n Bake, Ricky Wilson, and JunkYard Dog. Enjoy breakfast, lunch, and dinner at The Diner. Listen to music from the DJ and enjoy a beverage from the Beer Tent.

 

 

PawFest

June 2nd, 11 a.m.- 3 p.m.

SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital presents PawFest on Sunday, June 2nd at Veteran’s Park. Enjoy laser tag, a dog obstacle course, a variety of vendors, pet contests, pet games, a photo booth, and more. Grab lunch from Billy Bob’s BBQ. Watch a K-9 Demonstration, reptile exhibit, Adoptables runway show, and Bully Breed demonstration. New to PawFest this year, a Creative Grooming Competition! Admission is free but donations benefit Vet Your Pet and the Jefferson County Animal Control. A supply drive is also being held to benefit the Animal Control. Homebrewer’s Festival Reception

Although the Mt. Vernon Homebrewer’s Festival presented by SSM Health Good Samaritan Hospital on June 8th is sold out, you can still join in on the fun the night before! Welcome the Brewer’s on Friday night, June 7th at The Granada Theatre. The public is welcome to purchase brews from Humphrey’s Bar and enjoy live music. Discover Cedarhurst at night for a fun filled evening with after-hours access to intriguing exhibits! Scavenger hunt in the sculpture park, hands on art activities, nighttime laser tag, glow dance party, snacks, late night movie, and more. Kids ages Kindergarten through 5th grade. $30 first child, $25 each additional child, and $25 per child for Cedarhurst Members. Chaperones required with no admission fee. Dee Ann Schnautz is a solo artist who has been sharing her blend of traditional, Southern gospel and country music to audiences across the region for many years. Every Wednesday from June- August, local musicians, singers, and other talents will be performing outside of the Jefferson County Courthouse from 12- 1 p.m. Pick up lunch from one of Mt. Thursday Night Live

Cedarhurst Center for the Arts

Every Thursday between Memorial Day and Labor Day, Cedarhurst stays open late and converts the back patio and lawn into a third space, giving the community members a place to gather, network, and enjoy the beautiful southern Illinois summer and scenery. Entertainment is a staple of Thursday Night Live, as local and regional musicians are hired to perform each week. Museum staff help the committee design and facilitate special art experiences and activities from week to week to encourage visitors to become more involved with the arts i.e. - artist demonstrations, DIY craft nights, art chats, games, pottery firings, community art projects, and more. The museum welcomes annual sponsors to serve as volunteer bartenders and network with attendees. Cedarhurst invites local food vendors to set up and sell concessions each week, creating community partnerships that help local businesses and enhance the TNL atmosphere. Starting Sunday, June 2nd, The Frosty Mug is moving their weekly music outside to enjoy the great summer weather! The Sunday Singalong Patio Sessions will be every Sunday (with the exception of Father’s Day) from 5pm-8pm depending on the temperature and weather. Family Movie Night

Come enjoy a free movie at the library! Kids must be accompanied by an adult and adults must be accompanied by a kid.  Because of the licensing agreement, movie titles cannot be advertised. Dive-In-Movie: Moana

The Aquatic Zoo Waterpark

Float in a tube or lay in a lounge chair and watch Moana on a giant inflatable movie screen. Entry cost is $5/person for ages 2 and over. Season passes are not accepted at this special event.
